Where the Glockner’s ice fields shine: this is not only the beginning of the home country according to the Carinthian anthem; also the three highest ski areas of Carinthia are enthroned here with the 3, 798 metres high Grossglockner, Austria’s highest peak, towering up amidst them.

Grossglockner/Heiligenblut, Möll Valley Glacier, Ankogel – the 267 formidable mountains which reach over 3, 000 metres in the Hohe Tauern National Park look down kindly on their visitors. In the “Ski Kärnten” region there is no synchronised leisure industry; off the perfectly prepared pistes, life is governed by the wild, untouched nature which is also perfect for extended ski touring and snowshoe hiking. The ski areas have a snow guarantee from December until April and even all year round on the glacier.

Hospitality is the hallmark of the numerous family-run businesses and high up there where the larches grow slowly, people think in generations, not in seasons.
