Perfect pistes and relaxing thermal spas, embedded in one of the most beautiful and diverse cultivated landscapes in the Alpine region: you will find all this around Villach, the town on the Drava river, where even nature’s heart overflows.
Hot, mineral springs, clean water from the depths of the earth, have been feeding, some for centuries, the popular thermal baths of the region between Warmbad-Villach and the former mining village of Bad Bleiberg. Already the ancient Romans enjoyed bathing pleasures here where nowadays culture and cuisine from Carinthia, Italy and Slovenia combine to the most delicious level.
In the water cycle, snow converts the surrounding mountains into wintry sports grounds, the largest one of which is the Gerlitzen which is also Carinthia’s first and only certified ski area for beginners and returnees to skiing. The Verditz, however, is perfect for skiing individualists and, located at the border to Slovenia and Italy, you will find the sporty Dreiländereck ski area. In the valley, the numerous lakes invite you to go ice skating while cross-country skiers and ski tourers can indulge in the magic of the untouched winter landscape in the Dobratsch nature park.
